I don't know what to say other than tell you my experience and how I came to my conclusions. Namely, this is just way too far fetched for me unless it really is a metaphoric prophecy. I think the Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsay was more believable. He was at least trying to clean it up for prime time and try to make it seem more plausible. If you are saying that these things will come to pass just as written in Revelations, I can tell you as a spiritual person I was intrigued by the potential wealth of information IF such prophecy is true. Surely, you must know the controversy in adopting Revelations. At the time this Book was added, there was considerable controversy about whether it really part of the Bible or part of the Apocrypha. I can't provide you with a list of the books I read because the last time I researched this as a possible source of enlightenment was over 25 years ago. At that time I deemed that the evidence for the literal TRUTH of this Book was scant and that my subjective first-hand opinion of this Book was that it was at best imagery that could be interpreted in a modern context. If one imagined how someone of that time would write down the visions of 20th century warfare, maybe some of it sounded like modern warfare.Maybe. But, with that said, since there is no other first hand documents that I can use to test this hypothesis, I walk away saying well that sounds creepy and like a vision of MY future that I didn't want. Other philosophies allow me a positive vision for my future and that of my progeny. Since I already have said many times that I believe that what you think about you get more of, I decided to NOT believe this and believe something far more positive. No other part of the Bible (except Ezekiel's UFO experiences) even intrigued me. But again, after reading the primary document of authority I ended up with the same conclusion: "Hmmm, interesting, but totally unverifiable." I have a philosophy that allows me to embrace my future, that of my children, that of the after life and even allows for the existence of extraterrestrial life, all without any trouble or convolution. What can I say? I'm a rational, reasonable guy that likes things that sound plausible and allows me to TEST that plausibility. I recognize that the conflicts in the Middle East support your beliefs right now. But I'm in my 40's and people have been telling me since 1973 with the first Arab Oil Embargo that the trouble in the Middle East supported the Apocalyptic visions in Revelations. 25 years later, it is as implausible to me now as then. But that's me. I'm just saying that Fundamentalist Christians (friends, acquaintances and missionaries) have been telling me something that doesn't seem to be true for 25 years. I'm open to it, but I don't see it.
