And as well, Kendall, some of us using nicknames often sign our posts.... I often put Kevin, Kevin H, or Kevin Hayden in posts and PMs, as well as my regular e-mail address. (Though I use 'AT' instead of '@' to avoid spambots). I generally agree that anonymity permits too much abuse & deception. Many have concerns that msg boards are monitored by MMs and others who subsequently manipulate prices. Not only do I think there's truth in that, but I suspect some regular posters may be concealing occupations just like that. Not only do I wish for less anonymity, but wish there was a way to verify who's describing themselves honestly and who the BS artists are. Which only heightens the importance of trading what can be known and seen by the individual making his or her own trades. And if anyone really needs to know, I actually own no penguins at all... but some of my best friends are penguins.

Kendall, Probably the subscribership for SI will melt to 1/100 if people had to use their full names. I even think there should be some kind of I.D. like professional websites have with VRSN.. that we can actually access on line. This could be construed an invasion of privacy, so there is a choice but with the option we can choose to 'ignore' those that don't put up the I.D. And even organizations (MG, etc) should have all and every background check available on the company, owners etc. (of course I kind of fudge on the weight and I didn't update the profile on SI with age yet).. Hubby was 30 years with the Department of Justice..internal affairs, so there are legal ways to find out everything.
