ZO,

I think the underlying issue is provisioning and the multituide of specifications. From what I read the consortium effort is an attempt to "fix" the problems of different "standards". At some point this will reach crticial mass and even ALA will join. It's important to the entire DSL market that ALA and COMS, and CSCO, and NOK, and LU, as well as the CPE and carrier customers - come together on a common specification. This will allow portability and a common provisioning technology. ALA doesn't want to join right now because they want to slow this down thereby "freezing out" competition. That tactic may have worked so far but I don't believe it's a tactic that has a future. As DSL "opens-up" ALA will lose share at a greater rate. All IMO of course. BWDIK. ;)
