Thanks for the Portrait of America. Weird though. It gives a half dozen states to Bush that Gore has been leading in in the most recent polls. It's also got Bush ahead in Oregon in late September when Gore was at his strongest nationally. And it also contradicts the Seattle Times on the senate race there. Anyone ever heard of this service? Going to find out who they are. I'll investigate. Seems fishy to me.

Rasmussen Research conducts public opinion surveys using a proprietary automated polling system. Participants in our surveys hear a recorded voice ask a question and provide instructions on how to answer. Typically, the response instructions would be something like “If yes, press 1; if no, press 2; if you are not sure, press 3.” Other times, the survey respondents are asked to respond in their own words.
