Pretty cursory "report." For example, and perhaps most relevant to this thread, its focus on MSFT as an example of why monopolies don't deserve "extraordinary valuations" is suspect. Would the Government have "beaten" the MSFT monopoly if MSFT hadn't abused their monopoly position themselves? Or are we to assume that ALL monopolies will revert to illegal practices (as opposed to buying up competition) to maintain their monopoly in the face of technological change? Are we also to assume that no monopoly will ever withstand the test of time (as far as technological change is concerned)? Hmmm And again, anyone comparing 1929 to the year 2000 WITHOUT dealing with the context of the post war 1920s is doing a very shallow comparison imo.
