thanx for the heads up but the file was corrupt before norton tried to fix it.

there is no item in windoctor's history that relates to my problem. i checked diskdoctor too but it can only undo the last scan and i think that i've scanned about 739 times since the problem arose.

i'm thinking that outlook didn't like some of the colourful emails i was getting from my friends and decided that it didn't want to deal with them anymore. oh well, lucky i do semi-regular backups or else i would have lost more than just 2 weeks worth of email.
