Women's issues (also American issues): taxes, work stress, family time (and te decline thereof), improving the quality of life for self and loved ones. These are winning issues for the candidate that can best articulate them. Bush has done a very effective job of defining the differences between himself and Mr. Gore. Basically, he will cut your taxes and let you take more control of your life. With increased income (look at the effects of the Reagan cuts, and of Kennedy's cuts upon which they were based), Americans can afford to work less (less stress), and have more leisure time with their families. By taking control of our retirement accounts (at our choice), we can be more comfortable that we can retire with a greater return than the 2% that the government has posted (even with risk-free t-bills!). As we would, under Bush, assumedly have more leisure time (lower taxes, higher take home pay - follow the Econ 101 lesson), we can invest that in our children (lower juvenile crime), communities (lower crime again - outreach programs) and seniors (improved health care as we take care of our own rather than storing them in nursing homes at government expense). Mr. Gore promises nothing but the same, government-backed solutions. If women were intelligent, and they truly are, they would see Bush as their candidate. I believe that come November, that the supposed Gender Gap will evaporate. Just my opinion, though. G Howe
