Kenneth,

I don't really worry about the Nadar supporters shifting en masse to Gore. And for the record, I strongly support Bush. I believe most of them are out to make a statement and don't see much difference between Gore and Bush in the things they care about. If Gore tries to go after this crowd, he will lose even more supporters in the center. Just like Perot gathered in a lot of protest votes, Nadar is doing the same. And you could argue that most Perot voters naturally favored the Republicans.

Gore is in a severe bind, IMO. He is losing the support from the left (Polls show he is much weaker than Bush in his core and those who support him do so much less enthusiastically) and the center is drifting toward Bush. When he tries to be placate both the center and the left, he looks two-faced and that further damages him on that tricky credibility issue. What a bind - Catch-22 doesn't begin to describe it!
