Voltageous,

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are doing to INTC, the same as what they did to ELON & QCOM.

IMO, there is no way that these companies go into the doghouse for a few trading days only to rise from the ashes like a phoenix without some, 'er, um, well...... let's say assistance.

Good job on your cute little ELON's & good luck on your casino play on INTC.

Ö¿Ö Tim

INTC--Intel Collaborates With IBM To Deliver Wireless In-Car Client PlatformCompanies to Combine IBM's VisualAge(R) Micro Edition; the J9 Virtual Machine and the Intel(R) XScale(TM) Microarchitecture to Create Innovative Platform for Telematics
BUSINESS WIRE - October 16, 2000 11:17
DETROIT, Oct 16, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Intel Corporation today announced plans to collaborate with IBM* to deliver a non-proprietary, standards-based in-car client platform for the expanding Telematics market segment. This collaboration will speed up the delivery of a complete set of Telematics client reference kits supporting the Intel(R) XScale(TM) microarchitecture. These kits will enable developers and original equipment manufacturers to reduce their time to market and create leading-edge wireless applications.

IBM's popular VisualAge(R) Micro Edition Java(TM) application development tools and deployment technologies allow developers to quickly and easily leverage existing applications for e-Business. Introduced this fall, Intel's XScale microarchitecture is a new chip microarchitecture designed to benefit a wide variety of wireless Internet and networking infrastructure applications. The Intel XScale microarchitecture has the flexibility to handle requirements for both ultra-low power and high performance in devices ranging from Internet-ready cell phones to Internet infrastructure equipment.

Telematics is the market segment that includes cellular voice and Internet services in vehicles. Examples of in-car computing devices and services include navigation systems, emergency roadside assistance, and an array of entertainment applications and services.

Intel's support of IBM's embedded Java application development environment, Java class libraries and the J9 virtual machine for Intel's Xscale microarchitecture reference platforms provides Telematics developers and OEMs with a highly portable and reusable platform. "We are pleased to provide the burgeoning Telematics application development industry and OEMs with what are arguably the strongest wireless building blocks in the industry," said Pat Kerrigan, marketing manager at Intel's In-Car Computing Operation. "We anticipate that the efforts and expertise of both companies will create a truly open and standards-based platform that will help engineers and developers achieve a fast start, speeding the delivery of exciting applications."

"Automotive computing is an important and growing market segment that both Intel and IBM serve with advanced technology and products," said Skip McGaughey, director of marketing and sales for IBM's OTI embedded system group. "With this announcement, IBM takes the important step to broaden VisualAge Micro Edition to embrace Intel's Xscale microarchitecture. We welcome this opportunity to join with Intel to increase the availability of standard Java technology across leading automotive platforms."

Intel is featuring the latest offerings for the Telematics industry at the Convergence 2000 conference in Detroit. In addition to demonstrating automobiles equipped with the latest in Telematics technology, Intel will be revealing the benefits of XScale for Telematics at its booth themed "Intel takes Wireless Internet to the Extreme!" For more information about Intel in Telematics, see www.intel.com/design/wireless/telematics/converge.htm.

Intel game is the clearest charade in months

let me see if I understand clearly
Solly's biggest clients realize they missed getting it under 40
Houses know that taking Mighty Intel down 50% for a slight hitch in growth is absurd
some INTC shorts realize they have seen the extent of outsized profits

so now Solly clients are long with price under 40
so now Houses are long with "surprising" good news coming
so now INTC shorts have been converted to longs

I am back in after selling on friday when over 40
(I didnt trust a 4-pt gain in a wounded giant)
got April 35 calls today at endday when at 36
such easy money in next few weeks

wondering when the 50-58 gap will be traversed
any bets?
my guess, VoltFace, is around Dec 10th

/ Jim

got strange offbeat question for you on Health Trends

I read a farout opinion recently that US Healthcare is in disarray
it is so scattered
plenty of HMO's and regional care offerings
WEBMD.com might become a national phenomenon healthcare platform

I have an HMO plan based in Boston
when I move to Florida again, the whole plan becomes silly
I am assigned two practicioners to visit in Tampa Bay metro area
ONLY THOSE TWO
if I should be dragged in bleeding to an Emergency Room, then it is at my expense
how absurd

do you think that WEBMD.com will become nationally prominent?
do you think it might someday grow in stature as a common denominator for networking physicians?
do you think it might become the network foundation?

I am beginning to think it will soon be more than a great information source
it could become a monster stock someday if it is USED as the ultimate physicians network for delivering national HMO care

whaddya think, TommyReb ???
