Once you've dreamed it once, knowing the path back would make sense. Why did you dream it the first time? A bit of imagination?

I know that house. It is in Louisiana. It is a place where minor demons do the equivalent of sleeping: That is, they try to sleep--when they are not busy being bothered by humans that don't know where home is. Do you mind?!

fascinating.. dream states
I have worked with computer simulated neural networks and they have "dream" states also (as well as "near death" experiences). I feel pretty certain that it is the brain's technique of coorelating short term memory into long term.

I too have dreams which are distinctly familiar but that I cannot establish a real life basis. One is a house owned by my grandmother, only it's a grandmother who died before I was born. I know many aspects of the imaginary layout, secret passages from the celler to the attic, and even some surrounding houses and yards.

My own guess is that I thought about a vivid dream related to this location while in a waking state. That began to imprint memories which were later reenforced by subsequent dreams. Eventually the dream and the memories of thinking about the dream become mixed.

My most facinating false memory is actually a smell. I smelt it in the early 1970s while partaking in a mixture of substances that I avoid now. Still, when I am a little tired and the right music is played and the mood is set, I get a wiff of this powerful odor which is so distinctive, but perceived only by me.
