since we are being literary, allow me to vent on a pet peeve (that is better said on the SI grammar thread, but what the hell). "alot" does not mean a large amount. "a lot" can mean a large amount. "Allot" means to parcel out; distribute or apportion. Unfortunately, many people spell "a lot" without any space in between the two words, and it is simply incorrect. "ALOT" is, however, several acronyms:

ALOT Adaptive Large Optics Technologies
ALOT Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking
ALOT Allotment

One more pet peeve that pervades SI: the usage of "lose" and "loose." If you have a hole in your pocket, you will lose your loose change. If your pants are too loose, you may lose them when you stand up. And if you are a loser who marries a loose woman, you might lose your trailer. I hope that clears things up.

And speaking of beer, I think Sam Adams is pretty good for what it is. The brand has re-introduced a wide variety of beer styles into the American market that had all but disappeared here. And when I have the choice between Sam Adams and Bud, Coors, or Miller, I will always choose the former, and I thank Jim Koch (Sam Adams' owner) for his marketing efforts to make his beer available almost everywhere. Now Sam Adams is not Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but then again, neither is anything else ...

btw, the Sam Adams portrait on the beer is quite flattering, since Sam spent most of his life a rather portly and not-too-handsome fellow, check out his double chin in the first portrait:
