Sounds like you are out of touch with engineering practices and tools. Why you quit engineering to become a basher is becoming apparent.

Memory manufacturers have to deal with latchup issues on all cmos circuitry not just RAMBUS cmos.

What is your guess?

I can only guess, as I could not find anything detailed enough on the Rambus web site.

My guess it that they have recommended an ESD protection circuit which has low parasitic capacitance, but I am sure that there are many ways of achieving that result.

It is hard to see how any particular implementation could be of fundamental importance.
