RF Micro, PrairieComm announce baseband/radio-frequency chip solution Semiconductor Business News (10/16/00, 10:37:04 AM EDT) GREENSBORO, N.C. -- RF Micro Devices Inc. here today announced that it has entered into a co-marketing agreement with PrairieComm Inc. to provide a combined baseband/radio-frequency (RF) chip solution for the time-division multiple access (TDMA) digital-cellular handset market. Under the terms of the non-exclusive agreement, RF Micro will offer a combined baseband/RF chip solution to customers based on RF Micro's RF IC products and PrairieComm's baseband controllers. The combined solution will address both the TDMA and Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) standards. EDGE is an enhancement to the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and TDMA standards that increases wireless data throughput to 384-Kbits.
