<<Have you been able to determine how deep Tellaire's pockets are, or where their funding is coming from?>>

No Mike, because KVHI issued a seemingly innocent P/R this afternoon, but my eyes see much deeper, and my time on that is more important. I was not going to mention KVHI here until after earnings Thursday morning (CC webcast live at 11:30 EDT), but now I will.

In 1997 KVHI acquired a Fiber Optics capability from Andrew Corp. Integrating it and developing new products was a large reason in their two+ years of losses, from which they will soon emerge. In the Q2 CC, for the first time, they hinted at "new fiber optic applications in development", which are now about 6-9 months away.

In addition to all the other reasons to like KVHI, if they become a FULL FLEDGED fiber optics player in this area, they could have a HUGE future. Priced at $6 and a market cap under $50 million.

Today, Dr. Larry R. Dalton joined their advisory staff. See my post for significance.

The quality of the MRVC'ers here will know the significance of this.

Note that this is 100 GigaBYTES, not GigaBITS. A byte is 8 bits, so 100GBps = 800Gbps!, or 20 times OC-768!

MRVC? Who cares about MRVC?

Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh my!

Trying to build a revenue model for Optical Access. If anyone can answer these questions, it would be appreciated!

Does anyone know how much revenue Optical Access will recieve for each installation? Is it a one time sale or is there continual revenue from service contracts, upgrades, etc.

Does OA act as a service provider at all, or just an equipment provider?

Of the 3000 installations installed so far, are these beta tests or actual paying customers?

Is the 3000 actual installations, or the number of customers? (Assuming they can have more than one customer per installation)

TIA

Steve

I see Tellaire raised $350K. Looks like not very deep at the moment.
