Snapshots. Everyone likes to pick the snapshot that best suits what they want to see. If you had place a short on the SPX on 11/11/96 (the BEARX start date) when it was 731.87 you would have lost 87.7% of your investment. However, had you placed it with Tice you would have lost only 51.26% of your investment. What do you think of Tice's performance now? Oh wait, BEARX p[ays dividends that aren't reflected in the NAV. Of course so does the SPX. But then BEARX pays 3 to 4 times the divvie of the SPX. Hmmmm.....
