MOS FOOD DOWN AFTER EARNINGS ESTIMATE LOWERED 0043 GMT FURUKAWA ELECTRIC UP ON UPBEAT PROFIT FORECAST Furukawa Electric Co Ltd up 260 yen or 9.22 percent to 3,080. The electric wire and cable maker and leader in wavelength division multiplexing fibre-optic technology on Monday lifted its group net profit forecast for the year to next March to 151 billion yen from 66 billion yen. WDM technology increases the carrying capacity of optic fibres and has been in the spotlight as demand for large-capacity circuits strengthens, reflecting a rise in Internet use.
