Japan Hot Stocks-Mos Food, Furukawa Electric
TOKYO, Oct 17 (Reuters) - The following stocks are on the move on Tuesday.

**MOS FOOD DOWN AFTER EARNINGS ESTIMATE LOWERED**

**FURUKAWA ELECTRIC UP ON UPBEAT PROFIT FORECAST**
Furukawa Electric Co Ltd up 260 yen or 9.22 percent to 3,080.

The electric wire and cable maker and leader in wavelength division multiplexing fibre-optic technology on Monday lifted its group net profit forecast for the year to next March to 151 billion yen from 66 billion yen.

WDM technology increases the carrying capacity of optic fibres and has been in the spotlight as demand for large-capacity circuits strengthens, reflecting a rise in Internet use.

Furukawa raises earnings forecast.

Tokyo's Nikkei average fell 1.11 percent to 15,340.22, just above Friday's 19-month closing low of 15,330.31, as many technology shares were battered.

Internet investor Softbank shed 9.14 percent to 7,950 yen. But optical fiber makers managed to rally after sector leaders Furukawa Electric raised its earnings forecast.

Furukawa rose 10.28 percent to 3,110 yen.
