OT Dabum,
You'd be hungerin for that donut and wishn you had that oil this winter if you made that bet. I've read this thread for over 1 1/2 years but never been a member before. Also don't believe I've ever been flamed by anyone until now. I know I brought it on myself, but why do people have 2 standards of behavior, one for the problem child and one for those that address him? I think it's ok to adress someone that's always talking about how they are right by pointing out that they are wrong. That's not personal, that's meeting someone on the ground they select. Also, how does he get away with talking to a woman like that? Out here in the mountains of N. Calif. we don't treat anyone like that, much less women, without some consequences.

I have no desire to be a known poster. I might have a few questions or comments over time, but I assure you that left alone I'll melt back into the woodwork. This is all too silly to justify the time spent.

PS, when I get a better handle on what kind of leverage,if any, OPEC has on the majors to dampen their enthusiasm for oil exploration, I'll feel a lot better about my investments in the oil service stocks. Is it the threat of untapped future production in OPEC fields, is it the promise of future opportunities on OPEC fields, is it quiet collusion, or is it something else? It certainly isn't the outlook for energy prices and I doubt it is solely the desire to get their books and balance sheets glowing. You would think that there would have been some significant breaking of ranks on exploration among them earlier. Ed

<< In my opinion, the board would also be better off if everyone focused on the messages as opposed to the messenger. >>

... interesting observation dabum

It's especially amusing that this new poster surfaced here of late attacking the messenger; even though the same basic message is flowing thru the entire marketplace. Perhaps the pro-gold/anti-tech and there being only one final hurrah for oils remaining and that much sooner than anyone expects; that shorting the OSX is soon going to be the next - "single best idea" to Oilpatch investing; was a little more hubris than ole Ed could take.

Perhaps being not just right, but being "early" once again - is more than he could take as well…

It's curious to me Ed , or Princess Di; how any macro "calls" if that's what you want to call them of mine; have been "wrong" ?

- Been basically 100% invested in the Oilpatch since the fall of 1998 & OSX 50 and $10 Crude; been here as long as anyone and was pounding the table here when table pounding made both the "Big & the Easy" money. Certainly was on record for leveraging the majority of the "easy money" move as well...

- led the thread to the E&P valuation convergence & "Ed" yes; we made lots of money on the microcaps; but curiously; I haven't spoken to them in ages; but many here are presently - but, " I" had an agenda & they don't ?

- probably pounded the table more often & more correctly on taking profits continually off of the OSX's continual volatility - allways into criticism, especially when I shorted the high flyers like SII CAM BJS - ask John C Clark; he might remember eating some "Crow" on more than once occasion

- pounded the table on taking substantial profits on the Oilpatch back in the Sept 1999 E&P meltdown and again in April -May this year (at OSX 120ish and where are we now ?) and pounded the table on getting off "mad max margin" back in April/May as well - as the risk vs. reward parameters had changed. - but, please criticize that call given the whipsaw of the last 5 months & where we are today…

- used those April/May oilpatch profits to waltz into the Nasdq's April/May meltdown for a little margin leveraged dead cat bounce - but; given my oilpatch exit at the April/May top & my leveraged NAZ "DCB" returns; I'll glady acknowledge for the critic's sake - that perhaps that was more lucky than good. But; I think my refusal to play the next NAZ up leg this summer; citing the negative economic realities that were being ignored & calling the SOX a prime Short candidate & literally a posterchild for this bubble during its summer rally - again into the criticism of many (michael H among others)here once again; proved pretty damn accurate as where is the SOX & where is the NAZ today ? - but, I'm sure that's a figment of my imagination as well…

- have continually warned here about the "Sept 1999-esque" dangers of remaining in & not taking profits in the E&P high flyers & rotating to later cycle plays; especially the drillers as the best risk vs. reward & most eps leveraged play in the nearterm; and what are we seeing the thread doing of late…

- pounded the table on the overall market risk here of late; certainly was "early to the party" in pounding the table to going to heavy cash positions - only to be followed by the thread of late once again (but; I suppose that is a figment of my imagination as well … but; Ed; I forgot; somehow pulling some money out here & investing in a private business venture, taking a vactation while the OSX has fallen from 140 to 120, while the NAZ & DOW have blown up - was yet another "bad call"…. And yes; "how dare I return to posting here" - as you opined; as I did say I was leaving active posting/trading to pursue some business interests…. Damn; "Ed" - I don't know what bothers you more; my being continually "EARLY & RIGHT" - or, just my being here ? But; guess what - the business is firing on all cylinders & the opportunities to this last remaining leg in the Oilpatch coinciding with the short opportunities in the NAZ bubble and the historic cyclical opportunity unfolding in Gold Stocks - had brought me back ~

- well Ed; you're shortly going to have another "EARLY & RIGHT" call to have to spin :

- 1. Short the NAZ bubble

- 2. Ride the final move in Black Gold ; but rotating profits on strength thru my OSX 165+ exit target into -

- 3. Load up & leverage any & all Yellow Gold weakness

…once again; I'll be both "EARLY & RIGHT " on this and I am sure, much to the chagrin of the Chihuahua crowd and into much of the same sentiment, personal attack & eventual spin doctoring that being here in the oilpatch back in the dark days of the fall of 1998 with $10 crude & OSX 50; also brought…

- I'm sure my agenda was all personal as well; not that trying to convert the "mad max margin crowd", or trying to present the risk vs. reward benefits of raising lots of cash this summer - if nothing else; to be able to just sit back & be patient for the "GLBL" type of high reward vs. low risk; leveragable opportunites was just another figment of my imagination...

Petty jealousy & the Green Monster will allways exist and so will the "Ed's & the Princess Di's of the world… as how dare anyone take a stand; how dare anyone break away from the crowd and dare be early to the party, but never the last to leave ?

Yes; Ed & little Princess Di; oh how I've exaggerated my "calls" , oh how wrong I've been…oh what an agenda I have…

Hubris lives ~ so get over it...

I'm not only right; but early once again ->

...got gold & short tech ?
