P, We are going to find out soon enough about forward guidance: Tomorrow, Sprint (NYSE:FON), IBM (NYSE:IBM), and Intel (Nasdaq:INTC) report earnings. In addition, key telecom suppliers, like CMTN, also report earnings. At this point, there's enough tension and "wall of worry" in the market, for companies either to confirm the present fear or deny it. Investors are clearly bracing for the worst from MSFT.

To generate a nice sustainable rally, all that's needed is $28 crude, an easing bias from Greenspan, a somewhat lower dollar and Al Gore to get elected with a Republican Congress. Any more Christmas Presents for Wall Street? <ggg>

It was good that NASDAQ corrected a little bit of Friday's surge today. Wednesday is the key day, I think.

P, before the open ADTN announced earnings of 54 cents per share which seemed to be very strong relative to 36 cents last year and about 5 cents ahead of estimates. The stock quickly raced to over $46, then on heavy volume collapsed to lose money on the session. All the fundamentals look strong to me, but technically it could not be weaker. I'm taking a wait and see approach for now and hoping that cooler heads and higher valuations prevail after CMTN reports.

PS Those Conference Calls from Sprint and Copper are real important for this market.
