Archie Bunker was a comic caricature of a stereotype written, produced and acted in by people who were actually offended by REAL people who said these things. It is satire. What's not to love, huh? Anyone in their right mind would not try to pull this type of thing off except as satire.

Archie was a person who made outrageous statements based upon flawed, incomplete, or false logic. Kind of like Ronald Reagan did. It was obvious to everyone who saw the show that it was a satire. Like Police Squad. See, actually Archie Bunker was in the White House. Nixon was notoriously racist and bigoted privately. Irony is frequently part of satire. A black person wearing an Archie Bunker for President tee-shirt is funny.
