Unrealized gains (or losses) don't get reported. Same as with your portfolio, you haven't made a profit or loss until you sell. So there is no earnings fluctuation from unrealized gains.

I don't think you can do that with current accounting rules. Plus, you've seen this market, how would you make that guess?
