So if there is a true God and if he ever stands up and if he isn't your God will you be disappointed?

People using LSD and other substances that produced similar results didn't ALWAYS have these kinds of accidents (that's the important of context). LSD modifies the symbolism that we apply to sensory input. In a real way the information is still there, you are simply applying a new interpretation to it.

So if thinking that you can fly is only a metaphor (but an admittedly compelling sensory one), then it is true. I can close my eyes and imagine cruising over fields at 10-12" with a pretty convincing perspective. This ability now exists even though the "cause" of this ability stopped 25 years ago. But my ability to do this in my mental world in no way impacts my ability to do it in the physical world (I can't). This is true of the properties of ice. I wouldn't try falling onto it from 30 feet but warm it 50 degF and I'd be glad to!!

I don't advocate drug use or much of anything else (except maybe rationality). However, that is not to say that such substances didn't have profound influences on the thinking of the people who used them. Life is full of lessons. You only learn as much from a lesson as you can take away and apply later (successfully). Sitting in the same class for 100 lessons doesn't make you a genius. It makes you over-experienced in one thing that may not be much use 99% of the time. That other 1%, though, maybe it's pretty good.

I'm getting the impression that you are trying to say that reality is determined by our perception of it.

Another repeat: NO. I am saying that reality is perceived from a million points of view. I don't know how reality is determined, nor what you mean by the statement.

I am sure of one thing, in my mind. The God invented by desert nomads to give them supernatural protection in battle, and hope in misery, and courage in despair--and sanction for their raping, pillaging, slavery, tortures, lusts, etc--is a God that died shortly after the printing press was invented. This invention made the communication, teaching, and dissemination of reasoned thought, a reality throughout the world. The God that killed babies to punish the guilt or (non guilt)of some deranged (or moral) adult, is a God that finds no place to reside in thoughtful minds or compassionate hearts. To keep this God alive is a rebuke to your soul, to your humanity, and to the idea of a Loving God of PEACE and COMPASSION.

Now we have little children being taught to be unthinking fanatics, to carry rifles, and to kill, and to be killed without remorse...because they are told it is God's will for them, that they kill the other people that are saying it is God's will for them.

You condemn human tyrants that are Sociopathic killers--killers without conscience, empathy, or sense of others...why do you praise it in your God? Why did you choose a representation of God which insults and degrades humanity at its moral core? Why do you claim to love this God? I would not wish to live for one hour in the same world as this God.

The Jews needed a terrorist to accompany them into battle. They got one. Why do you seek or need a terrorist, in the world to which you go?

Now why do you think that a moral God would set up the horrible deaths of innocent children. This is supposed to rid the world of sin? Don't you undestand that this is SIN? Don't you understand that this is cruel, vicious, heartless, primitive--that this is a moral atavism that degrades humankind and ultimately endangers the survival of the human race? NO. You choose to think it is GOD'S WILL. You can choose to think any thoughts that exist in the Universe, but you CHOOSE to think that this is GOD'S WILL. I need a drink.
