Chuck,

1) Stock price
I suspect it's deja vu all over again. Like this time last year, many people pronounced the death of AMD. November analyst meeting is critical. If AMD is not killed by then and provides some more positive guidance, the stock price will take off again.

2) Flash spin-off
I have to admit you were right and I was wrong then. The shareholder value would have been 3-5 times higher than now. Just look at ATML even today.

3) Buy back
AMD only needs $1b in cash given that it continues to have positive cash flow and there is no immediate plan to build Fab35. 200mil buy-back will go a long way to preserve and increase the shareholders value.

AMD can go a step further to spin off the entire telecom/network business as a fabless firm like PMCS or TXCC with guaranteed foundry services.

When AMD becomes a pure microprocessor business with two mega fabs, it will still warrant more market cap than today. And Jerry will still have his legacy. Nobody will remember Jerry for flash or network chips.

Just my very diluted $.02

panic

Chuck <If anyone feels this way please feel free to write a letter to AMD management.>

Whom would I address this to? Anything to Toni seems to fall on deaf ears.

TIA,

David

Chuck & Thread <<The issue of stock buyback is also very appropriate>>

Jerry just stated in the latest CC that AMD does not plan to buy back it's stock.

Jerry and company needs two execuses NOW to change their stand on the buyback issue.

1. The stock has fallen another >20% since last Wednesday, thus better value for AMD to buy.

2. At AMD investors overwhelming requests. Guys, it is our turn to try to change Jerry's mind without letting him eating his own words.
