GV,
RE:"The Nifty 50 of the early 70's is a great case study.

They all collapsed in the mid 70's.

Some (e.g. GE and MO) recovered and surged well past their old highs.

Some (AVP and XRX come to mind right now) never recovered."
-----
Great parallels with that time period. Yom Kipper war, 1973, oil prices rocketing...

Some like Intel, AMD will recover...they actually make something.

Others never will, B2B, other Internet hype stocks come to mind.

The scary thing is that they haven't taken GE down too bad yet...

Jim

GV - Don't forget Polariod <ggg>, they just warned the other day, and are still around. Most of the conglomerates as I recall, like Teledyne were also popular way back, pushed by 'star' managers like Gerry Tsai... Hey, but it's different this time, tech will never fade. I expect to see Mongolian nomads online anyday now <ggg>.

Best regards,
John
