Nobody is ever qualified for president. That is the sad fact. In all likelihood, the last president who came closest to being qualified was Ike, on the basis of his strong military/management background.

That Clinton is "best" (I'd strongly disagree) is a quirk of fate due to a good economy. He adopted all of Bush's facts and figures the minute he stepped into the Oval Office....which isn't to say Bush was a genius, either, but at least he campaigned on figures that were later pretty much borne out....

Clinton's economic chickens may be coming home to roost at this point. We'll see.

El, no bones here but if you want to look at accomplishments, then you need to have a Congress and President that think alike. The problem is with the checks and balances and career politicians, IMO. The current logjam is unbearable -- what a waste! The choice is clear for me since I want to control my own destiny without feeling like I live in a socialistic environment, being discriminated against my socioeconomic status as undeserving on a break. It is akin to asking someone to work overtime while getting paid half-time. I agree with you in that there could be much to be added to the two candidates to make them ideal, but one candidate is the lesser of two evils IMO.
