INTC--Intel Edging Up 0.2% Ahead of Earnings; Other Semiconductors Down

Intel (INTC:Nasdaq - news) was up 0.2% in late afternoon after trading mostly lower since late morning. The chip-making giant is expected to report third-quarter earnings after the close. Other semiconductors were down after three analysts cut ratings and estimates for Micron Technology (MU:NYSE - news) and Credit Suisse First Boston sliced its 12-month target for Applied Materials (AMAT:Nasdaq - news) to $75 from $112. Micron was down 15.6%, and Applied Materials was down 10.8%. The Semiconductor Index (SOX^X:NYSE - news) was down 10.6%.
