Thanks for your comments, john. Your insight into possible spinoff(s) by CA are appreciated. However, just because the ARCServe and distributed platforms/Internet portion of CA is the "best managed part of their firm" does not mean that it is well-managed, relative to other firms.

Do you see any Gorilla or King aspects of the products involved in such a spinoff? Who are their competitors in this market?

My fear would be that CA would use the spinoff as another way to sqeezit and takethemoney, this time from the new shareholders.
