An entirely accurate statement by Bush.

Of course, obtuse Dems appear to maintain that any spending not made by government doesn't count as spending in the state.

You might try learning English. It's probably not too late.

KEP, He said IN the state of Texas, and did not say BY the state if Texas. Try reading 101. You need it. ~H~

<<"We spend $4.7 billion a year on the uninsured in the
state of Texas," Bush said in the second presidential
debate. But the state comptroller reports three-fourths
of that is from charity care provided by doctors and
hospitals and paid for by local governments and
charitable institutions -- not the state. >>

We spend. And they do spend $4.7 billion a year on the uninsured in Texas. He didn't say the state government spends.
