John,

Yes, that was a bad interview, though Bryant handled it well.

The good part is that the folks that matter, the institutional investors, will read this correctly. Maybe not this week, but very soon.

4-8% sequential increase

Yep, these guys all seem to have their bowels in an uproar because Intel provided such a wide span in their guidance.

8% ($9.4B) would be spot on to expectations. I don't think Intel is being "overly cautious". Rather, I think they are trying to avoid a replay of the "warning that wasn"t" that they felt obligated to give at the end of 3Q. Then a combination of events transpired to allow Intel to post a good quarter. My guess is that other geographies helped pick up the slack. Also, Europe had a good quarter ... just not the huge blow-out that Intel had predicted earlier.

This is not being "overly cautious". Rather, it is being reasonably prudent.

John,

Franks is a perfect example of the anal sphincter from Haavaad BS.

He thinks +4% is a "caution"(read WARNING re 4Q00 and pressed Bryant on this. Bryant deflected his anality and repeated that they are saying 4-8% sequential growth.

I'll bet Intel beats that +8% growth, probably preannounces this in November and are still being OVERLY CAUTIOUS right now.
