Another take on MSFT's near-term prospects:

Tomorrow MSFT will not "crush estimates." It will meet them, but only by changing its accounting methods and inventing clever fudge factors, and probably by concealing some important line items from view.

Their forward guidance, as usual, will be relevant only as something to rule out when looking for the truth.

Their product pipeline is full of meaningless tripe intended to create revenue growth on a stagnant technology monopoly.

All of that is common knowledge. Here's the speculative part...

Their stock will continue its plummet, and in a few months they will be bought by GE and used as an inhouse IT department to keep its old databases up and running. GE will sell the optical mouse to Logitech, who will use it to build peripherals for Mac OS X superdesktops.
