Mitch, Donald Wennerstrom compiled an index of 33 semi equip stocks and asked me to plot it against SEMI numbers. geocities.com You can see how the stocks got ahead of themselves 1Q00, but now are more than making up for it. We have zero correlation now between stock prices and SEMI orders/shipments. But the new Sept numbers are due any day. Gottfried

Well said, although I'm perhaps more optimistic than you on the sector in the near term -- I think we'll see a significant rise within a few months, simply because we're way past the middle ground on the the fear/greed pendulum, and barring any big market event we'll trend back to the norm. Granted, there might be plenty more to go before we turn around, but I believe the fundamentals (semi) are still intact and that there's good reason to expect them to remain strong, despite the clouds on the horizon. I'm still long and expect to add siginficantly as soon as Mr. Market has finished gnashing his teeth and pulling his hair -- maybe in a few weeks, after earnings season and the election? I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said "Nuclear War: lets get it over with!" I have to admit a part of me feels that way about the current bear mkt in the NAZ. Lets hurry up and get to the place that says "BUY!" Cheers.
