sam,

Re. If one is shorting, he must do it on an uptick,

I always thought NAZ market makers are allowed to short on downtick whereas specialist on the big board can not.

Re. big blocks trading: I was told by two brokers that, when you see big blocks crossed without significant price change, it could be that MMs close their own shorts. This happens more often in options expiry week - of course.

OT: Sam: Por Favor!

Due the large block its a fund or an insider, the question
is who place the order. But it can be just a insider selling. Just who can answer your question is the broker
but if the trade came from a insider you will now about it
at the company news ( I'm not sure how long news is post after the trade). Large blocks sometimes means trouble ahead. If someone knows something good he will buy slowly.
Just my opinion. Could you tell me the company name?

Sam, you sure the data was accurate? Sometimes, when you see something that you can't make sense of, it's because it didn't really happen.

sam_o: Just not enough info in that posts to respond. Is there a reason you did not note the issue?
