If you read Cramer's various messages today, it turns out he has all of 2500 shares, in a $400M hedge fund, and he only bought it yesterday. When he says "canary", that's exactly what he means. It's his equivalent of buying one share so it comes up on his portfolio quote screens and gets discussed at his meetings every day.
