Hammer: I believe Big Business donates to GOP causes/candidates about 60 percent, Democratic causes/candidates about 40 percent. Yet there is little outcry to rein in Big Business as there is to rein in unions. How come?

If the Repubs want to rein in union donations, then we also need to rein in Big Business donations, which represent 91 percent of the pie.

If we enforce a dues checkoff for union members, then we also need to institute a political contribution checkoff for shareholders of corporations.

But wait a minute. Can't do that. George Will and Sen. Mitch McConnell say Big Business donations are protected under "free speech." No such protection for union donations, however.

Yeah. That makes a lot of sense to me, too.
