LOL. I wonder why, in your words, "Gore's support by Hollywood gives him a lot of clout over Hollywood," but at the same time, Bush and Cheney's support by _________ [insert your favorite target] just show how corrupt and beholden to _________ they are. You are a dreamer.

The facts on Hollywood and the entertainment industry speak for themselves. Gore's been in power for eight years. Have you noticed? The FTC report of just weeks ago, and the Hollywood moguls who testified before Congress, just weeks ago, differ with your "analysis."

As one example, some studios said they stopped the test-marketing of blood and sex to children after the FTC report came out, just before the hearings, as I recall. Right afterwards, and, if I recall correctly, even during the hearings, Gore attended more fund raisers and took more money. There were even some accounts that Gore reassured and told them not to worry.

Congress -- the supposedly "do nothing" REPUBLICAN CONGRESS, who Democrats chide for not "helping families" -- not Gore, has done something in response to the FTC report. Unless one considers Gore's taking campaign money and attending fund raisers to be "working the issue."

No standards or changes have come from Gore. If something had come of it, Gore would have been the first to tout -- in detail and with lots of embellishment -- how he had cleaned up (or reinvented!!) Hollywood. He's not exactly humble. But he's been virtually mum. Give Hollywood six months to do specifically what?

Hollywood might "lay low" on blood and violence for a couple of months just to try to help Gore through the election, and just use their current tv series's to take every opportunity to subtly, and sometimes not-so-subtly, denigrate Bush and Texas. Apparently, "The Practice" this week had a slur against Texas' death penalty statute, and by association, against George Bush. Incidentally, the word, "respect," is not one of the first things I think of in connection with Hollywood, either on the giving or receiving end.

Finally, ASpirit, the seemingly endless time you spend here attempting to spin leads me to believe that you're here at the DNC or some other political organization's expense. If so, perhaps your posts ought to carry the disclaimer of "Paid for by..."
