Cole "does not compare to the 100+ Palestinians who have died in recent weeks" in Mideast violence, a stunning government memo reveals. MORE The Clinton/Gore Administration disapproved a VOICE OF AMERICA broadcast condemning the attack on the Cole. A memo from the Executive Secretariat Staff at the State Department stated: "The Department of State does not clear on the referenced VOA editorial. "This editorial will reach an audience that is caught up in the violence in Israel and the Occupied Territories. Even Tucker Carlson the conservative on CNn agrees tonight's debate should energize the Gore campaign and heolp him pull ahead in coming days. You saw the real Al Gore tonight. Forceful, compassionate, depthy, great expertise, extremely knowledgeable, honest and courageous. You saw the real Bush tonight too. Shaky, but good at posturing and giving zippy slogans, short on specifics, attacking Washington but poor record in Texas, no answers for the most important questions, little compassion or grasp of the real issues. Not a strong leader. makes Texas votrs look foolish for giving him such support. especially when you check his record there.
