I have seen no concise prove that there is such a gene

You may not be expecting science to be able to produce the answers it does. X the Unknown has published in this thread a couple of good studies (including the prestigious National Institute of Health) that support this conjecture. If you follow up on these, I don't see how it can be interpreted as "liberal" or "conservative". Those labels can't really be applied to science.

I have a 1950's book on the physics of light. It spends a lot of time saying how quantum mechanics is just a theory that explains the experimental results, warning the student, basically, not to read too much into it. To someone like me 50 years later some of these warnings (while understandable AND FALSE) are laughable in the way they are phrased. Despite this, I'm inclined to be kind because until you study them and become familiar with them they are totally non-intuitive and will rock your world! They are also very disturbing if you like things neat and clean. Physics doesn't really care what you want.

Genetics is in the same state now as modern physics was 50 years ago. We have some really good theories that seem to be right, but the culture has not caught up to the facts and there are some really disturbing things (like just HOW MUCH predestination is there) that are especially unsettling to people that cling to the absolute nature of free-choice. This free choice might be an illusion to a large degree. Many things we consider "vices" may not be vices at all but statistical predispositions. This will force us to reevaluate everything from our social institutions to our penal system. Get ready... it is coming.
