<Kumar is estimating that Intel shipped 34 million CPUs and the ASPs are around $177-78.>

I think Kumar is overestimating the Intel units by a good million or more. Let's see what the other analysts have to say.

I would not be surprised if Kumar was close on the units shipped....I am sure he gets inside info....then again he could have padded the numbers.

<I was surprised at the current level of Intel's ASPs. >

<I had thought you had estimated last quarter that they were around $190. Am I correct?>

I was thinking of a number a bit lower than that - in the 180s - but in the same ballpark. Clearly, there is a bit of guessing here.

I think the ASP number is telling. If they have moved as low as Kumar suggests, than AMD is hurting Intel much more than I thought.

Enough so, that I think AMD could ease up on the price cuts. I would like to see AMD reduce its bloodletting as much as possible.

edit. BTW TSC is reporting that Intel had a 20% increase in its inventories and that's how it was able to make its numbers. Have not had time to check it out but will. AMD also reported a 20+% increase in inventory. While I expect some increase due to Xmas, 20% is a bit high.
