Continuing weakness in UMC doesn't look good. I suppose it is understandable that Taiwan stocks are amplifying the negatives in the U.S. tech stocks, but it is discouraging to see another significant drop.

If UMC now represents 50% of ALSC's investment portfolio, the 6.25% drop in UMC translates into a 3.1% drop in ALSC's net asset value.

Actually, ALSC has been performing relatively well considering the erosion of its UMC share value. The positive earnings performance helps, but on an earnings basis, ALSC is not super cheap compared to other memory makers. My fear is that an unforgiving market may decide a more extreme discounting of ALSC is in order.
