CPI up 0.5% and the core CPI up 0.3% [the highest since March]. . . these are both substantially higher than expected. The markets have strangely ignored these numbers. Futures have barely changed since the numbers were released. Very odd behavior for such dramatic numbers. I have no explanation for this. Any ideas?

Rande,

This market sucks! It's still pre-market and I'm down 5K. I give up!

As soon as the last of my sell orders are filled I'm heading for the Bay for a bit of Fall sailing.

Going all cash for now. Maybe I'll buy some more gold. I'll look to buy back in when the market turns.

How does that sound, anyone want to go sailing with me? Course the way things have been going lately I'm sure there will not be a breath of wind and we will just drift.... probably into the South (lower) Bay!

Shroom

Dow under 10K, NAS soon to be under 3K. These markets are toast!! The equity markets are drying up for new investment, and any tech companies that aren't self supporting (profitable) are going to go bankrupt, which is going to drag down the profitable techs too. Here in techie Austin, there are going to be a lot of people out of work, which means they'll move somewhere else to find work. This will kill the real estate market, which will in turn cause some banks to collapse. I'm putting my house on the market today, because prices are going to crash and it will be cheaper to rent. I'll put my money in T bills, and hope that the goofy schemes Gore and Bush are proposing don't screw that up too. It's going to be at least ten years before the markets are safe again, and then we'll be looking for 10% a year, not 40%. I'm capitulating today, right now, never looking back.

OT - Rande, I sincerely hope the only thing that matters brings you immense joy tomorrow. Good luck.

Rande, I agree...

"I give up. Selling out. Selling everything. Going cash. Never buying techs again. Buy my shares. Lost too much. Can't handle the stress. No longer trading."

Uncle, Uncle, Uncle...

(Anything to help the cause... hehe)
