I thought it was MSFTs fault for everything that happens to SUNW? <g>

<<JC, you have identified a trend which has been going on for some time. Software is getting devalued and hardware companies had been doing better. I think the trend is about to change. Also SUNW can't keep up with the growth rates of the last 2 years. The stock is going to crater in the next 12 months and it wouldn't be because of MSFT.>>

I think you must distinguish between PC and enterprise software. PC software is being commoditized (i.e., Linux, Solaris, etc.). But there is tremendous value in enterprise software that can save large congolomerates millions or even billions of dollars a year. ORCL saved a billion in one year! How much would GM, GE and other large congolmerates save if they implemented such software.

There will always be value in large, sophisticated enterprise software apps.

JMO, Bob.

No. The trend isn't software *company devaluation (although that's the effect). The trend is devaluation of software itself. --- Why do you think MS is scrambling into network 'services'? --- You might be surprised what SUNW can do. Just with what's on their plate right now, I don't see anything that's going to slow down the growth rate in the time you mention. Although clearly, they're in hyper-growth (a term coined by Adam Osborne, btw) which couldn't possibly last forever, but after the hyper-growth runs it's course, SUNW won't "crater". They'll just settle in to some GE type growth curve. -JCJ
