Hi,

I realize this is off-topic so I will try and be brief.

TER is a story closely related to the communications sector. In fact, they believe that over 80 percent of their business is driven by the growth of the Internet. For ATE (semiconductor test) the primary markets are Mixed signal, analog, logic and high speed memory (ex-Rambus).

A good portion of the recent quarter's revenues were not from the sale of semiconductor test equipment. Teradyne does a lot of (non-semi test) testing for the connector and backplane manufacturers. These are the networking guys - Lucent, Cisco, Nortel, etc. This is a portion of their business that is growing rapidly. They also have software products for testing phone lines. This business is just starting to build a head of steam and should do very well as DSL becomes more popular.

In terms of the slowdown - there was too much equipment bought by the back end outsourcing houses this spring and this summer. It's that simple.

Hope this helps.

Carl

P.S. Thanks for the plug. The correct URL is infras.com :-)
