Well, in the past women were PAID for each baby they had on welfare. Conservatives didn't like that much. What you subsidize you WILL get more of, and it is the poor and uneducated who will primarily take your subsidy. I don't have a problem with paying the poor to breed if that is TRULY what you want- but you must then (imo) commit to RAISE and FEED and CARE for these poor babies whose births you wish to encourage. Most conservatives I have met who are against abortion do not want to open their wallets to the children whose birth they wish to ensure.
