I can only speak of my own experiences. In my experience it wasn't the clinician's who wanted the women who came into our clinic to abort. A lot of the women at the clinic I worked at were Hispanic and had husbands who did not approve of birth control- even after a woman had already proved his fertility with a large family. So these women would come in really wanting abortions. It was against their religion, and the wishes of their husbands- but these women REALLY wanted those abortions. The other group that we saw a lot of were teens and most of them came in with parents who REALLY wanted their girls to have the abortion.

That's my experience. I had a friend who had an abortion, also. I tried to persuade her to have it and let it be adopted- but it WOULD have ruined her life, at least for a good long while. She was supporting herself in college- her mother was in a mental institution and her father had abandoned the family. Who was I to push her? So I supported her by driving her to the clinic and staying with her after she had her abortion. It wouldn't have been my decision, but that's ok with me.
