In '87, on the expiration Friday prior to the Monday crash, the market had its largest single day point decline ever. Some people were actually thinking for a little while there that this decline was the panic bottom of a drop that had started in late August. At the close Friday that drop amounted to almost a 20% decline.

As we all know, the next Monday and Tuesday proved that theory wrong.
