The fact that government should want to control the way I live to allow me to keep more of my own money disgusts me.

I agree with you, but both the Democrats, the Republicans and anyone else who holds government office does just that: THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AWAY FROM YOU!!!

I live in Seattle. A couple of years ago we were asked in a referendum whether or not we would approve Paul Allen's new stadium for his football team. When we went to the voting booth, we turned it down.

Guess what happened? The State Legislature overturned our wishes. We are stuck with the new stadium even though we didn't vote for it.

In the meantime, Allen's got approval for his team to play at The University of Washington's stadium for the next two years!!!! I understand the university doesn't get a dime for the rental. The money goes to the already well-endowed athletic department.

The residents who live around the area are stuck with a massive traffic problem because we don't have many roads, and the area around the U of W stadium is extremely congested!

Although I don't know the precise financial details, I believe Seattle residents will have to pay part of the cost for the new stadium in one way or another.

Why do we have to put up with government that never listens to the people?

I think it is because the rich and powerful always have the means to influence politicians.
