Vianet Technologies and MRV Communications Form Alliance to Deliver Next-
Generation Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB)

Vianet Voice, Video Compression and Streaming Solutions Round Out Next-
Generation FTTH and IP Infrastructure Offerings for Broadband Networks

PLANO, Texas, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Vianet Technologies
(OTC Bulletin Board: VNTK), an innovator in visual media communications and
fiber access technologies, announced Wednesday it has completed mutual
reseller agreements with world-class optical networking leader
MRV Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRVC).
With this alliance, both companies are able to offer a cost-effective
solution capable of delivering broadband voice, access and video over IP
network equipment. The demand from leading national network IP providers for
integrated broadband delivery solutions recently resulted in a request from a
potential IP network customer for the two companies to demonstrate the
combined solution on existing infrastructure.
"By integrating our switching and fiber optics products and Vianet's video
products to operate efficiently with the extensive networks currently being
deployed, we are able to offer leading-edge home video solutions," said Noam
Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications.
The agreements grant the companies cross-licensing for the resale of one
another's next-generation networking product lines. The Vianet products
covered by the agreements include the Starpoint fiber optic multiplexers,
protocol modules and transmission equipment, as well as video streaming and
video compression systems. The MRV Communications fiber optic products
covered by the reseller agreements include the OptiSwitch, Fiber Driver and
FTTH products serving Internet infrastructure solutions.
"The synergies of the relationship with MRV Communications clearly address
the complex requirements of an all-IP network infrastructure," said Pete
Ianace, executive vice president of business development for Vianet. "In
today's all-IP optical network, providers not only deliver broadband access,
they ensure the use of that bandwidth by streaming content that is already in
demand, such as a movie or concert. Combining best-in-class compressed
streaming video at DSL speeds with optical IP infrastructure and FTTH products
provides Vianet and MRV with an undeniable competitive advantage in services
for the all-IP network."
MRV and Vianet are discussing future co-development projects for
seamlessly integrating their products to further enhance services for IP
network providers. In these pending projects, MRV will contribute experience
and a reputation in equipment for all aspects of optical IP solutions, while
Vianet will provide expertise in optical voice, T1/E1 and SONET/SDH solutions.
