I was joking about losing share. They are all consulting capacity constrained. The original 2001 revenue estimate was $200mm and its going to end up being something like 7x that. Its pretty incredible.

In the cc ariba specifically mentions a customer who chose another b2b provider (startup) for their add-on business. Ariba said this customer chose ariba for add-on, they did not. Ariba doesn't know this yet - what a faux-pas!

I believe that b2b is hot, and ariba is the hottest of the b2b's but it is NOT an ariba or nothing game as far as new marketplaces go. The reason ariba doesn't own the entire pie here is the market grew before ariba or any b2b product was mature. Its not the same thing we had with Sap and the ERPs, where there was one mature product and that is all.

Also, doesn't Ariba defer more %
of revenue?

Yes alot. I really like the way Ariba handles their books. You know how critical I can be of that;-) Also, if Ariba was not so conservative in the amount of deferred revenue, they would have had an operating profit. Very impressive I believe.
