Not only don't leave someone who's ill alone in the hospital, but don't assume that the doctors and nurses have read the chart and know what's going on. I've got a lot of opinions about what's wrong, not enough doctors is one, not enough nurses is another. Everything is so complicated now, more than it used to be. Too many things for one person to know, no way to communicate what they do know to the person who needs to know it. I don't have any solutions because doctors don't listen to patients, or their families. They already think they know everything. They jump to conclusions. I guess talking to them and making yourself into a pest if you must is the only way. "Proactive" is a neologism that annoys me because I don't like NewSpeak, but it's the right word.
