an early morning pontification----hmmm TJ,see a fight spilled onto our thread:) --well anyway, futures,IF they mirror the day ahead,we have a turn around today based on fuel from AOL and MSFT ---would hope AOL news would help GENU,as GENU is AOL's backbone---major problem, all rallys will juice the prime tech stocks right back to the same problem--overvaluation--that problem simply is not going away.So we have a huge bottom resistance at 3000 and a huge resistance at ROUGHLY 3600--but where is the light for something better? i see none except just buy and buy for just because, and not for any sound reason.
So what do you do,keep pouring money into the component providers to fiber-optic networks when people like Byron are pointing out this creates an impossible cash burn rate on the build out---so that the Fiber Networkers go bust while the component providers get fat---won't work.
The AOL deal with GENU,(7 years exclusive) also demands a continuous build out by them,or sayonara, but sayonara to what, another cash burn gasping fiber networker?
DSL is getting beheaded, and it is no secret why---the baby bells are doing everything they can to make the DSLs life miserable---this New Economy is running into a major snag.
We have been hyped to death with self-serving sci-fi pumpers of the new age,and the mantra was invest in infrastructure, and now that is making a 360,as the rush to get in has left a glut of competitors.
Hell the BioTechs are the "safe-harbor " stocks these days---yikes,what does that say!
would take my cash back on GENU if i could, and go for a real safe harbor.
Battaglia,in his usual BULLY Aggressive table pounding,as recently as mid septemper was calling for a DOW 12,000 ,a S&P 1650 and a NASD 5500 by the end of THIS year---for myself,i will do what i usually do,wait for a TRUE trend reversal--and to hell with catching the bottom just right----but with a certainty that ANY rally will be a bear market rally,as the New Economy propagandist are now standing naked these days in the pile of their lying hype.
Look at how bubble sector after bubble sector has collapsed---why,because the New Economist were pumping out lies as they were making huge fortunes selling their underwriter shares to the gullible.
The many buy and hold people that listened, are now forever buried--holding their COVDs CMTNs CMGIs DCLKs ICGEs on and on---and they will eventually be buried--those buying AMCC JNPR JDSU,etc--because the demand side will suddenly vaporize, because those they are selling too will get in a bind and can't buy anymore.
How many, beyond the present levels, can afford the internet,at broadband premium levels---we tend to interpret everything through our affluent middle american eyes ,which is really a limited consumer demographic---and i wonder how many of the dot.com employees are doing now? the suddenly rich, are not rich anymore, less "toy" buying ahead.
We tend to think, all will work out, because IT WILL,and not provide solid reasons for why it will---we just make wild generalities,as to why, flummery i call it.
Mary Meeker was screaming, when Yahoo was selling off from the plus 200 level--that the sell off was insane, that YHOO deserved a market equal to MSFT--and was giving a longterm price target of 700! for YHOO! madness. Max,early in the morning, and fresh as a daisy, has pontificated enough:)(BTW,i type with one finger!LOL!)
