Andrew - RE: "In late Q4, early Q1 '01, it will be the 1.33 Ghz DDR
Athlon versus the 1.4/1.5 Ghz P4. You can expect
similar performance from the two, and the P4 will be
hundreds of dollars more expensive. If the P3 1Ghz
is selling at $500, the P4 1.4 will sell at around $800
and the P4 1.5 may be at $1000. Add in 2 128 MB sticks
of RDRAM and you're looking at an additional $350+.
Toss in a motherboard, and you're looking at north
of $1500 for the 1.5 Ghz version. I'm guessing $2500-$3000+
for the first P4 systems."

Actually, The Register, who has historically been very accurate with processor pricing, says the 1.4GHz P4 will sell for something like $650 and the 1.5GHz for $830. And Intel will be sending $70 bucks back to OEMs this Q for selling a P4 system. $2500-3000 is normal for high-end of market, which P4 will start at.

Andrew - Re: "Does it change the fact that the new Tbirds spank the P3? "

The Tbird "spanks" the P3 ?

Oh.....how utterly juvenile.

Are you potty trained yet?

Andrew - re: "Remember, AMD only needs ASPs of $90-100 to make a lot of money. "

Remember this, Andrew.

When AMD reported last week that their ASPs had dropped to $90.66, their stock was slammed down from about $23.50 to around $18 today.

So, Andrew, how much money did that little AMD f*ck up make you?

Reality Check: INVESTORS DON'T WANT ASPS DOWN in the $90s - they want ASPs to GROW !!

If you care about AMD more than you care about making money for yourself, I suggest you go to work for AMD for FREE. That should help you achieve your rather pointless goal.

Otherwise, you're just another fool who thinks selling expensive things cheaply is a smart business practice.
